Jim LaJoie

Chief Development Officer

 

Jim LaJoie grew up in the small town of Palmer in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A veteran writer, Jim spent 10 years in the newspaper field as a sports and feature writer at The Mining Journal before embarking on a nine-year marketing career at the former Marquette General Hospital. For the past 20 years, Jim has worked in healthcare philanthropy, “retiring” in May 2024 as executive director of the Superior Health Foundation. In December, Jim accepted this part-time position as Chief Development Officer for Great Lakes Recovery Centers. “Great Lakes Recovery Centers has always held a special place in my heart,” LaJoie said “I’m excited to help play a role in increasing our donor data base and raise much-needed charitable funding to enable this incredible organization to thrive for years to come.” LaJoie owns a bachelor’s degree in communications from Northern Michigan University and earned a master’s degree in public administration, with an emphasis in healthcare administration, from NMU. Jim lives in Marquette with his wife, Kim. Away from work, Jim enjoys reading, walking, playing racquetball, spending time at the family cottage and at the beach.

Ray Amtmann

President

 

Ray Amtmann is a retired Air Force Colonel with almost 25 years’ service. After the Air Force he taught Business at Northern Michigan University and in Brazil for 15 years. He is also an entrepreneur and business owner. He has been on the Great Lakes Recovery Board of Directors since 1997 and the President of the Board since 2005. He and his wife of over 56 years, Mary, have three daughters.

Richard Graybill

Richard “Dick” Graybill was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but grew up in Detroit, Michigan where he graduated from Cass tehcnical High School and obtained his BA degree from Albion College in Albion, MI in 1965. He received a Juris Doctor with honors from Wayne State University Law School and practiced law in Ann Arbor until being drafted in 1969. After receiving commission as a Captain in the Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, he was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas. He was appointed as a military judge serving Ft. Hood, Ft. Walters, and Corpus Christi. After an Honorabl Dischareg, he was associated with the law firm of Clancey, Hansen, and Vielmetti, becoming a partner in 1975. Dick left that firm to establish his own firm in 1995 and now is a principal in the firm of Graybill and Mead PLLC in Ishpeming, Michigan. His practice is limited to real estate, estate planning, and elder law.

Dick has two married daughters and five grandchildren. He is a member of the American, Michigan, and Marquette County Bar Associations. He serves on the boards of Marquette County Habitat for Humanity, Marquette County United Way, and Cancer Care of Marquette County. He has served as treasurer of the Episcopal Diocese of Norhtern Michigan since 1976 and is an ordained Episcopal Priest, serving on his local ministry support team. He has also held numerous positions at the Denominational level.

Dr. Daniel Arnold

Retired from 35 years practice as a medical oncologist in Marquette during which time was Chief of Staff of Marquette General Hospital for 2 years. Has served on the Board of Superior Health Foundation for 13 years, including 3 terms as the President, Marquette Symphony Board with 2 terms as President, Board of Temple Beth Sholom and 30 years on the NMU Institutional Review Board.

Lindsey Butorac

Lindsey Butorac, CPA is the Vice President-Finance, Operations & Human Resources at TruNorth Federal Credit Union in Ishpeming, MI. She has served on the GLRC Board of Directors for 10 years currently serving as Vice President and Personnel Committee Chair. She has been a member of the GLRC Foundation Board of Directors since its inception. She holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting/Computer Information Systems and Master of Public Administration degree, both from Northern Michigan University where she was employed for 14 years prior to her current position.

Andy Chosa

Andy Chosa is a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community who grew up in Baraga, MI and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan School of Business. He worked as a finance manager for a non-profit Indian Health Services Urban Clinic in Detroit, MI for several years before returning to the UP. He received his Master of Business Administration from Northern Michigan University, worked as the Foundation Coordinator for Great Lakes Recovery Centers, and as the CEO of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community’s Economic Development Corporation before joining Upper Peninsula Health Care Solutions, Inc. (UPHCS), a health focused non-profit, in 2017 as the Grant Administrator. Since then, he has received a Graduate Certificate in Program Evaluation from Michigan State University, he’s overseen the successful conclusion of several UPHCS grant funded projects, edited successful proposals for partner organizations, worked as reviewer for federal grant proposals, and written successful proposals for UPHCS resulting in millions of dollars of program funding. When not working, he enjoys losing at video games, board games, and men’s hockey; reading; hunting; fishing; and walking/dragging/chasing his disobedient dog around the neighborhood with his wife in Negaunee, MI.

Kathy Reynolds

Kathy Reynolds has been the CEO of the Greater Munising Bay Partnership/Alger Co. Chamber of Commerce and the Executive Director of the Munising Downtown Development Authority for fourteen years.  Kathy has a Ph.D. in Higher Education from Southern Illinois University, a MA in Student Affairs from the University of Connecticut and a BS in Business Education from Huron University.  Her previous work experience includes 25 years in higher education roles, experience in the private sector and also rural health care.  Kathy is also actively involved in a variety of other boards as the vice chair of the Munising Memorial Hospital board, chair of the Upper Peninsula Economic Development Alliance, co-chair of Michigan Festivals and Events, a board member on the Upper Peninsula Arts & Culture Alliance, vice-chair of the Alger Co. Brownfield Authority, chair of the Great Waters of the Upper Peninsula and chair of the Au Train Zoning Board of Appeals.  Kathy and her golden retriever Harvey, live in Au Train.
